Overview
Red Thread Scholarship provides aid of up to $15,000 to a promising MSIP student (one award per cohort) from an underrepresented group in the healthcare field and ideally a first-generation graduate student. This scholarship is awarded to students based on financial need and demonstration of volunteer/service experiences in the healthcare field(s).
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Health Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship, applicants must be a current student or an alum of the graduate program (MSIP) and be in the process of applying to a health professions school or a doctoral program.
Competitive applicants must:
- Be a legal resident of the United States (US citizen, permanent resident or DACA status).
- Be admitted and enrolled in the MSIP program as a full-time student.
- Indicate volunteer/service experience in the healthcare field(s).
- Complete the application and submit a response to the essay question by June 15, 2023 for Fall cohort and November 15, 2023 for Spring cohort (Essays should be at least 500 words in length.)
- Scholarship is exclusive and is not stackable with other graduate awards from Benedictine University.
- Commit to serve as a graduate peer mentor to support the students in the next cohort until they enter professional schools, create service opportunities for MSIP students (such as organize health screening at Hope House), volunteer at University events (such as Young Hearts 4 Life , graduate open house) and volunteer with seniors at Villa St. Benedict.
