Mesa

Benedictine University was founded by the Benedictine monks of St. Procopius Abbey in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood in 1887. After serving students for over 125 years at its Lisle, Illinois campus and beyond, Benedictine expanded to the Southwest, opening a campus in downtown Mesa, Arizona in 2013. This location offers Arizona residents and those across the Valley a new option for pursuing bachelor’s and master’s degrees. More importantly, it provides access to a Catholic institution dedicated to making private education both attainable and affordable, fostering a sense of belonging, and empowering students to shape their personal and professional journeys.

Located in the vibrant heart of downtown Mesa, students can enjoy the city’s diverse cuisine, attend concerts and plays at various entertainment venues, or take part in the city’s numerous indoor and outdoor activities. Just a short ride on the light rail, Phoenix offers even more opportunities, from art and history museums to major league sports events and fine dining, enriching the student experience even further.

Believe Big, Achieve More at BenU

As a private Catholic liberal arts institution, we are dedicated to making a four-year education accessible and affordable. At Benedictine University, prospective students benefit from a straightforward admissions process—no application fee, standardized tests, letters of recommendation, or personal statements are required. Instead, we focus on evaluating your academic achievements through your transcripts.

We are also committed to affordability. Every student admitted to Benedictine University receives academic merit-based scholarships. Combined with our competitive tuition and fees, this ensures that students can earn a private Catholic liberal arts education at a cost comparable to that of a public university in Arizona.

Growth

“Benedictine expanded my thought process when it came to my career path. Being in athletics my entire life, I have always been passionate about how I can be my best self, physically, mentally, and socially. From the different classes I’ve taken at BenU, I became aware of how much I want to be able to educate other people on how to become their best selves.” –
