Welcome to Benedictine University Housing! We’re excited to help you find your home on campus for the 2026-2027 academic year.
What is the Housing Portal?
The Housing Portal is our secure online platform (powered by StarRez) that serves as your official resident hub. This is where you’ll complete all required steps to secure your on-campus housing, including submitting your housing application, selecting roommates, choosing your room, picking a meal plan, and signing your housing agreement.
Why This Matters:
Completing your housing application and room selection by the posted deadlines is essential to guarantee your space on campus. Rooms are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis during your designated selection period, so timely completion ensures you have the best selection of available options.
Getting Started:
Access the housing application through the Housing Portal by logging in with your BenU email ([email protected]) and password. We encourage all residents and families to familiarize themselves with the portal, as it will be your primary resource for all on-campus housing needs throughout the year.

March 17: Housing Portal Opens
- Start your housing application
- Choose your roommates
- Complete application
Room Selection Dates:
- April 7: Rising Seniors/Graduate Student Classification
- April 9: Rising Juniors Classification
- April 10: Rising Sophomores Classification
- April 13: Returning Freshmen Classification
- April 13 – April 17: Open to Everyone (including commuter and transfer students
- Pick your room and assign your roommate(s)
- Choose your meal plan
- Sign your Housing Agreement
- Communicated to roommates to complete this process within 24 hours
Important Notes:
– Complete your housing application before Room Selection
– During Room Selection: Sign your housing agreement and select a meal plan to officially reserve your room and complete the process
Room Selection Ends for Current Students – April 17
New Freshman & Transfer Students
Before completing your application or selecting your room, review these key dates and information:
March 17: Housing Portal Opens
- Start your housing application and select your roommates.
- Set up your roommate group
- Complete application
Room Selection Dates:
- Freshmen: June 2-July 17
- Transfers: April 7-April 17 & June 2-July 17
- Pick your room and assign your roommate
- Choose your meal plan
- Sign your Housing Agreement
- Communicated to roommate to complete this process within 24 hours
Transfer Students: You have two opportunities to select your room and roommates:
- Early selection with returning students (April)
- Regular selection with all new students (June/July)

Room Selection Ends for all incoming students – July 17
For applications received after July 7, Residence Life will issue and communicate assignment information on a rolling basis through August.

How to access the Housing Portal
- Log in using your student ID number and password.
- Example: [email protected]. If you don’t know your password, please click here: https://accounts.ben.edu
- Click Resident Login, then select the applicable entry term.
- Work through each step of the application, following specific instructions on each page. Select Save and Continue at the bottom of each page to move to the next step.

For Parents & Families
We welcome your support as your student navigates the housing process! While students lead this journey, parents play an important cheerleading role.
Your Role:
Encourage your student to complete their housing application and room selection by their designated deadline. You’re welcome to discuss options together, but students should take the lead in making these decisions, it’s a great opportunity for independence and decision-making.

- April 7-17: Early selection period (Transfers & Returning Students)
- June 2-July 17: Main selection period (New Freshmen & Transfers)
What Happens Next:
After room selection closes, Residence Life will communicate housing assignment details and next steps directly to your student.
