Overview
The MSIP Inclusive Excellence Scholarship provides MSIP students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to affordably reach their career goals. It is particularly intended to foster a learning environment among the cohort that exemplifies respect for one another and embraces diversity. This scholarship is open to all MSIP students and will provide financial assistance of up to $5000 per year (5 will be awarded in Fall and 3 in Spring)
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Health Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship, applicants must be a current student or an alum of the graduate program (MSIP) and be in the process of applying to a health professions school or a doctoral program.
Competitive applicants must:
- Be a legal resident of the United States (US citizen, permanent resident or DACA status).
- Be accepted and enrolled in the MSIP program as a full-time student.
- Indicate volunteer/service experience in the healthcare field(s).
- Complete the application and submit a response to the essay question by June for Fall cohort and November for Spring cohort (Essays should be at least 500 words in length.)
- Scholarship is exclusive and is not stackable with other graduate awards from Benedictine University.
- Commit to serve as a graduate peer mentor to support the students in the next cohort until they enter professional schools and volunteer at University events (such as Young Hearts 4 Life , graduate open house).
Essay Prompt: In most healthcare settings, you will constantly interact with other professionals, patients, and their families. Think about a time when you had to work closely with someone different from you. What were the challenges/surprises and and what did you take away from the experience?
