Overview

Since its founding in 1887, Benedictine University has challenged students to learn science by doing science. This remarkable heritage inspires the Jurica Scholars Program at BenU. Named after Frs. Hillary and Edmund Jurica, O.S.B., whose collected specimens are the heart of the Jurica-Suchy Nature History Museum at Benedictine, this program is designed to cultivate the Jurica brothers’ philosophy of “learning through doing” and is a tribute to their legacy.

The Jurica Scholars Program provides a merit scholarship based on academic performance. Students in the program are encouraged to take advantage of numerous programs of research, service, and extracurricular experiences.

Incoming freshman admitted to Benedictine University who meet a set academic criterion are eligible to apply for our College of Science and Health Scholarships. Scholarships are awarded based on a successful application and review by the scholarship committee. Each scholarship is a $2,000 award per year, and award renewal is reviewed on annual basis.
