Allied Health Programs Clinical Partnership Agreements

Through partnerships with clinical programs, the allied health programs allow students to complete their degrees as they complete a clinical program at area hospitals, health care facilities and universities. All of the allied health programs with which Benedictine University partners are accredited and meet the highest professional standards. Students earn their B.A. in Biology from Benedictine, and a certification, degree, or licensure with our partner institutions.
Clinical (Medical) Laboratory Science with Hines Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital:
In the Clinical Laboratory Science program at Benedictine University, you will follow a three-year sequence of liberal arts and science courses. During your senior year, you will be eligible to complete a one calendar-year clinical program at a hospital affiliated with the University — Hines Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in Hines, Ill. — where you will fulfill your clinical requirements in Clinical Laboratory Science. Successful completion earns you a B.A. in Biology- Allied Health from Benedictine University, and you will be eligible to take the certifying examinations administered by the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel.
Clinical Science Programs with Northwestern Memorial Hospital:
In the nuclear medicine technology, diagnostic medical sonography, or radiation therapy programs, you will complete your first three years of course work at Benedictine University. During your junior year, you must apply to Northwestern Memorial Hospital for your clinical education. The admissions process is competitive. During your senior year, you will complete a clinical education curriculum. Successful completion of one of these programs earns you a BA in Biology- Allied Health from Benedictine University, and
- Certified qualification as a Nuclear Medical Technologist
- Certified qualification as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, and be eligible to take certifying examinations administered by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the Board of Registry of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists.
- Be eligible to take the national registry examination in Radiation Therapy administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Northwestern Memorial Hospital strongly recommends that a student be trained as a CNA and have “hands-on” experience before applying.
Clinical Master’s with Rush University:
3+2 Programs– Receive a Bachelor’s degree from Benedictine and a Master’s degree from Rush University in Respiratory Care in as little as 5 years.
