The Eagle Promise

We realize choosing a college is a commitment not just academically and socially but financially as well. A college education should be attainable and accessible for all students. With Benedictine University’s Promise Program, we make this important decision easier.

Benedictine’s Promise will provide all first-time, first-year freshmen and transfer/degree completion undergraduate students and their families the certainty that a private, Catholic, liberal arts education can be financially affordable. The Promise Program is for first-time, first-year freshmen and transfer/degree completion undergraduate students attending our Lisle, Illinois and Mesa, Arizona campuses through our Eagle Promise (Lisle, IL campus) and Redhawk Promise (Mesa, AZ campus).

In addition to our Promise, Benedictine also is committed to all first-time undergraduate students by “Locked” Tuition. In order to help students and families plan ahead for educational expenses, Benedictine University locks in tuition, meaning the tuition rate a student pays their first semester stays the same until they complete their undergraduate degree and graduate.

Are you a first-time, first year freshman or transfer/degree completion student interested in BenU for 2024-2025?

The Eagle Promise is our guarantee that we will not let financial challenges stand in the way of Illinois residents’ ability to discover their potential and achieve a transformative private, Catholic, liberal arts education at Benedictine University. It assures that full tuition and standard fees as a full-time undergraduate student will be covered by financial aid through grant(s), scholarship(s), and award(s) for eligible students. The Eagle Promise ensures that Benedictine remains affordable and accessible for those students who meet the appropriate criteria and eligibility as a State of Illinois resident.

State of Illinois residents eligible to receive the Federal Pell Grant and the State of Illinois MAP Grant (Monetary Award Program) will have their total yearly tuition and standard student fees as a full-time undergraduate student met by the Eagle Promise. First-time, first-year freshmen and transfer/degree completion undergraduate students seeking enrollment for the first-time at Benedictine for the fall 2024 and/or spring 2025 semester must meet the criteria listed below. Qualifying students are not required to live on campus.

  • State of Illinois resident (student and the parent(s) on the FAFSA both must be residents of Illinois).
  • Meet all eligibility criteria for the Federal Pell Grant program and the State of Illinois MAP Grant program.
  • Meet satisfactory academic progress while at Benedictine University.
  • Registered as a full-time undergraduate student and enrolled with a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester.
  • Be admitted to Benedictine University and file the FAFSA with our school code (001767) added
  • Be pursuing a first bachelor’s degree.

How does the Eagle Promise Work?

Eligible students’ tuition and standard student fees will be covered first by their eligible federal and state grants–like the Federal Pell Grant and the State of Illinois MAP Grant.

If your eligibility for the Federal Pell Grant and the State of Illinois MAP Grant does not equal the full cost of your full-time tuition and standard student fees, Benedictine will cover the remaining difference with an institutional scholarship(s) and award(s). Funds awarded through federal and state grants and through institutional scholarship(s) and award(s) as part of the Eagle Promise only will cover up to your calculated cost for full-time tuition and standard student fee. Your institutional scholarship(s) and award(s) can be reduced if you receive application-based scholarships through Benedictine, private scholarships, or other privately-funded resources (excluding loans).

At BenU, you will have endless possibilities for academic exploration, research and service, and campus involvement as well as the chance to expand your horizons and discover new passions.
