Benedictine University’s Communication Arts program is unique in a number of ways. The program emphasizes hands-on learning. Students have the opportunity to work on real-world projects, such as producing a student newspaper or newscast. This experience gives students the skills they need to succeed in the workplace.

Our location puts students in the heart of the country’s third largest media market. Those interested in careers in television have interned at CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox and PBS affiliates. Others have had internships with local radio stations and businesses such as 95.9 FM The River, ESPN 1000, Bulls/Sox Academy and Comcast Television.

The Communication Arts program at BenU is interdisciplinary. Students are encouraged to explore all facets of media and communication, rather than focusing on a single track. This gives students a broader understanding of the field and makes them more well-rounded communicators.

Our graduates go on to successful careers in a variety of media jobs, including:

Reporters, editors, producer, public relations specialists, multimedia journalists, graphic designers, social medial managers, video editors, and more! Communications Art alumni have 14 EMMYS AND COUNTING You will find our alumni working in TV production for shows such as “The Middle” and “Life in Pieces”, winning Emmy awards for photojournalism and editing, and writing for some of the top news outlets in the country-NPR, Bloomberg News, The Washington Post and The New York Times.
