Business Analytics

DANIEL L. GOODWIN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

The growing field of analytics is transforming the way companies do business. Analytics can help improve managerial and organizational decision making by transforming data into actions and business insights.

The business analytics major at Benedictine prepares students for a career in corporate management across many business functions: management and data analysis, analytical consulting, financial planning, project management, and investment banking. Students majoring in business analytics acquire a solid education in basic analytical tools (including Excel, SQL and SAS), specialized analytical tools (such as ArcGIS, ExtendSim, XLMiner and Solver) and statistics. Additionally, this major covers aspects of management, marketing and business intelligence with the goal of creating well-rounded graduates who understand both the data and human components of successful businesses.

Students in the Business Analytics program have the opportunities to:

Work in small teams to solve real-world problems from local companies.
Get a briefing from company executives on the problem and work all semester on the project scope and deliverables.
Gain practical and valuable experience, as well as learn how to communicate their findings effectively.
