DANIEL L. GOODWIN COLLEGE OF BUSINESS
The growing field of analytics is transforming the way companies do business. Analytics can help improve managerial and organizational decision making by transforming data into actions and business insights.
The business analytics major at Benedictine prepares students for a career in corporate management across many business functions: management and data analysis, analytical consulting, financial planning, project management, and investment banking. Students majoring in business analytics acquire a solid education in basic analytical tools (including Excel, SQL and SAS), specialized analytical tools (such as ArcGIS, ExtendSim, XLMiner and Solver) and statistics. Additionally, this major covers aspects of management, marketing and business intelligence with the goal of creating well-rounded graduates who understand both the data and human components of successful businesses.
All business analytics students have project-based classes. Students learn how to present technical results through written and oral presentations. These skills are essential in a dynamic business world and are highly sought-after by employers.
Throughout their undergraduate careers, students work in small teams to solve company’s real-world problems. At the end of the semester, the student teams present the results to the company.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, analytics-related industries are growing faster than average compared to other industries. Business analytics is increasingly prevalent in successful organizations across several industries. Our curriculum is designed to meet current business needs and launch successful career.
