Instructional Design
The CTLE can help connect instructors with instructional designers to assist in creating or adapting their courses. Instructional designers use educational research and innovative pedagogical approaches to help instructors develop and design courses to enhance student engagement and promote learning outcomes. This can include full course design/redesign or partial course design/redesign.
Instructional Designers can assist instructors in the following ways:
- Creating course materials for both in-person and online courses
- Designing course websites in D2L
- Training in elements of D2L and other educational technology
- Considering the elements of course, including learning objectives, assessments, learning activities, and instructional materials
- Determining how to assess student learning outcomes
- Reconsidering best pedagogical practices based on research in teaching and learning
