The Simposio Internacional de Medios Públicos Del Lenguaje Españo (SIMPLE) was held at Benedictine University (BenU), and it marked the first time this event had ever been held in the United States. SIMPLE is a three-day event held annually that aims to build bridges and celebrate the rich language, history, and culture of the Hispanic community in the United States. BenU Board of Trustee was instrumental in bringing the symposium to campus.
Throughout the event, the campus saw a congregation of Hispanic public media leaders from Latin America, Carribean, USA, and Europe with a focus on public and university radio stations. Each day of the symposium had a different theme. On the first day, it was language. The second day focused on History. And the third and final day concluded with Culture.
In addition to the symposium held in Goodwin Auditorium, the Vice President of the World Bank, Jorge Familiar, also joined Benedictine University students, faculty, administrators, and President Foy for a special luncheon.
BenU is grateful for being given the opportunity to host such an impactful symposium.
