Benedictine University (BenU) conferred an honorary Doctorate of Human Letters to alumnus Peter Foyo, ’87, during the University’s Commencement Ceremony on May 3, 2025, at the Rosemont Theater in Rosemont, Illinois. The University’s Board of Trustees, faculty, and administration unanimously approved the honor in recognition of Foyo’s distinguished career, dedication to service, and enduring commitment to Benedictine’s mission.
“This honorary degree represents our acknowledgment of the impact Peter Foyo has made on our society, our faith in his continued support and influence, and our gratitude for the lasting legacy he has created as part of the Benedictine community,” said Joseph J. Foy, PhD, President of Benedictine University. “We are honored to count him among our most distinguished alumni and delighted to recognize his many achievements in this meaningful way.”
A 1987 graduate with a degree in international business and economics, Foyo has built a notable career as a leader in the global telecommunications industry. He has advised international dignitaries, corporate leaders, and policymakers, shaping advancements in technology and human development. His expertise has made him a sought-after speaker at academic institutions.
Beyond his professional achievements, Foyo has remained deeply engaged with BenU. He has served on the Goodwin College of Business Advisory Council, advised the Office of the President, and supported the University’s mission through philanthropy and mentorship. His contributions extend to St. Procopius Abbey, where his dedication to the Benedictine tradition and Catholic faith has strengthened the Institution’s legacy.
Foyo’s service also includes a distinguished tenure in the U.S. Army, where he served as an active-duty and reserve officer. His commitment to community, faith, and excellence aligns with Benedictine’s core values, making him a role model for students and alumni.
