Earn College Credit for High School Classes

Benedictine University is proud to partner with nationally-recognized STEM program, Project Lead the Way (PLTW). In recognition of the rigor and content taught through PLTW’s K-12 curriculum, BenU offers incoming freshmen students an opportunity to achieve college credit upon completion of PLTW high school coursework and Benedictine University criteria requirements.

Benedictine University Requirements to Qualify for University Credit:

High school students who have successfully completed at least (1) and a maximum of (2) PLTW course(s) listed in the table below may be granted Benedictine University general elective credit(s) subject to the following conditions:

  • Attended a certified PLTW high school
  • Official High School Transcript, including Evidence of PLTW courses completed.
  • Minimum PLTW score requirements. See chart. Pass the End of Course (EOC) National Assessment to earn an achievement-level descriptor of “Distinguished” or “Accomplished”
  • Complete BenU On-line Application by February 1. Applications will be considered after the deadline.
  • Complete Petition for External Credit form. Grade of “P” (Pass) for PLTW courses will appear on the BenU transcript for eligible courses and a nonrefundable posting fee of $10 per credit hour will be charged to your account.

Next Steps:

  • Complete BenU On-line Application by February 1 priority deadline, designating full time status at BenU
  • Complete the Petition for external credit form. Grade of “P” (Pass) for PLTW courses will appear on the BenU transcript for eligible courses and a nonrefundable posting fee of $10 per credit hour will be charged to your account.
  • Request Official High School Transcript, including Evidence of PLTW courses completed, to be sent to BenU
  • Upon acceptance to BenU, schedule an appointment with an Academic Advisor, and let them know that you are seeking credit evaluation for PLTW courses.
