Eligible students to apply for the Belong Scholarship Program are those identified as underrepresented minority or first-generation student. Underrepresented minorities (URM) is someone whose race or ethnicity is from one of the following: – African American/Black; – Asian: Filipino, Hmong, or Vietnamese; – Hispanic/Latinx; – Native American/Alaskan Native; – Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander; – Two or more race, when on or more are from the preceding racial and ethnic categories in this list; – First-Generation Students.
First-Generation Student is defined as a student whose parent(s) did not complete a 4-year college or university degree, regardless of other family’s member’s level of education; if a parent started college or university and did not finish their degree; students with parents who attended international universities as first-generation.
