The minor in Medical Spanish is a rigorous program of study for students interested in the health care field.

With its emphasis on language skills and cultural knowledge particularly useful for careers in medicine, social work, and emergency response, the minor can be profitably combined with majors in a variety of areas, including health science, biology, criminal justice, and nutrition.

Students in the Medical Spanish Minor program have the opportunities to:

Gain experience through internships and service-learning activities.
Demonstrate to potential employers or graduate programs high levels of linguistic proficiency in the Spanish language.
Acquire a deep of understanding and appreciation for the various Latino and Hispanic cultures.

Exam Proficiency

In order to graduate with the minor in Medical Spanish, students must also earn a rating of Intermediate-Mid or above on the online ACTFL oral proficiency exam.
