Studies Minor

The African American Studies Minor is an interdisciplinary, general studies minor that introduces students to the breadth and complexities of the Black experience in the Americas.

It will also prepare students with the basic skills to pursue more advanced study in the field. It complements almost any discipline from the natural sciences to the social sciences, the arts and professions.

Students in the African American Studies Minor Have the Opportunities to:

Demonstrate the interdisciplinary perspectives of African American Studies.
Critically apply the centrality of the African American experience to the history and culture of the United States.
Demonstrate the connections of the African American experience to the African diaspora globally.
Articulate how African American studies prepares the student for understanding and advocacy for inclusion within various contexts of the student after graduation.
