Scholarships

Health Professionals of Tomorrow Scholarship recognizes a promising full-time student in the MSIP program (one award per cohort) and supports their journey into the healthcare field by providing them with financial assistance of up to $15,000 per year per student. This scholarship is awarded to students based on academic excellence and demonstration of volunteer and service experiences within the healthcare field(s).

Eligibility Requirements:

Competitive applicants must:

• Be a legal resident of the United States (US citizen, permanent resident or DACA status).
• Be enrolled in the MSIP program as a full-time student.
• Possess an undergraduate degree with a minimum GPA of 3.5.
• Indicate volunteer/service experience in the healthcare field(s).
• Complete the application and submit a response to the essay question by June 15, 2023 for Fall cohort and November 15, 2023 for Spring cohort (Essays should be at least 500 words in length.)
• Scholarship is exclusive and is not stackable with other graduate awards from Benedictine University.
• Commit to serve as a graduate peer mentor to support the students in the next cohort until they enter professional schools, create service opportunities for MSIP students (such as organize health screening at Hope House), volunteer at University events (such as Young Hearts 4 Life , graduate open house) and volunteer with seniors at Villa St. Benedict.

Essay Prompt: What are the biggest challenges facing healthcare professionals and the US healthcare systems? How do you plan on addressing these challenges as a future healthcare professional?

Red Thread Scholarship provides aid of up to $15,000 to a promising MSIP student (one award per cohort) from an underrepresented group in the healthcare field and ideally a first-generation graduate student. This scholarship is awarded to students based on financial need and demonstration of volunteer/service experiences in the healthcare field(s).

• Scholarship is exclusive and is not stackable with other graduate awards from Benedictine University.

MSIP Inclusive Excellence Scholarship provides MSIP students from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to affordably reach their career goals. It is particularly intended to foster a learning environment among the cohort that exemplifies respect for one another and embraces diversity. This scholarship is open to all MSIP students and will provide financial assistance of up to $5000 per year (5 will be awarded in Fall and 3 in Spring)

• Be accepted and enrolled in the MSIP program as a full-time student.
• Indicate volunteer/service experience in the healthcare field(s).
• Complete the application and submit a response to the essay question by June 15, 2023 for Fall cohort and November 15, 2023 for Spring cohort (Essays should be at least 500 words in length.)
• Scholarship is exclusive and is not stackable with other graduate awards from Benedictine University.

Essay Prompt: In most healthcare settings, you will constantly interact with other professionals, patients, and their families. Think about a time when you had to work closely with someone different from you. What were the challenges/surprises and and what did you take away from the experience?

The Mani-Sarathy Opportunity Grant will provide financial assistance to current graduate students and alumni in the MS in Integrative Physiology (MSIP) program who are applying to professional or graduate schools.

Applicants can apply for funds up to $500 to offset costs that might hinder their journey to reach their career goals. Funds can be used to cover costs such as exam fees, application fees, standardized test preparation courses (MCAT, DAT, etc.), or travel expenses for professional and graduate school interviews. Applications will be accepted throughout the year until funds are available.

The fund is named after the late Mr. RVS. Mani and late Mr. RS Subramanian, father and father-in-law of Dr. Jayashree Sarathy, Founding Program Director of the MSIP program, and established in their honor. They both believed that providing support and education to students in need could help remove obstacles along their path to success.
