Benedictine University is grounded in the spirit of the founders who based their lives and work on St. Benedict's Rule for Monks, written in the early sixth century. Central to the Benedictine tradition is the celebration of community as a gathering of people who share a commitment to a common mission.
The challenge of University Ministry is to create an environment that encourages the Catholic community to reflect on the source documents of faith and develop leadership for the future of the Church. Our mission is lived out through the objectives from which our ministries flow: vibrant and engaging worship, student leadership, and transformation of the communities in which BenU's Catholics live.
This mission is accomplished for the Catholic community through five commissions led by students under the oversight of the University Ministry office. Those five commissions are:
-Worship and Spirituality
-Education and Formation
-Peace and Social Justice
-Catholic Life
-Stewardship
Catholic Faith. Welcoming Spirit.
