Holly Rae Blandford
Dean of Students
Holly Rae serves as the Dean of Students and is dedicated to the support services that help students thrive both in and out of the classroom. As Dean, she leads the Student Life Department which includes the Academic Advising Office, the Academic Resource Center, Special Services, International Programs, Career Development, Food Service, University Housing, Campus Ministry and Student Activities. Holly Rae earned her Master's Degree at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in Higher Education Administration and her Bachelors of Arts degree with a double major in Dance and Psychology from Webster University, Saint Louis. Holly Rae enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and 8 year old schnauzer.
Susan serves as the Senior Director of Student Success and Retention. She has served students at Benedictine since January 2004 and has been working in higher education since 1996. Susan has experience working across several departments including Admissions, Advising, Financial Aid, and the Registrar's Office. She enjoys mentoring and coaching students to reach their academic and personal goals. Susan received her Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior from Benedictine University and her Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois at Springfield. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and family, cheering on her beloved Chicago Cubs and playing with her dogs. Susan describes herself as "mom to three Boston Terriers, pseudo mom to 500 Benedictine students."
Emily serves as an undergraduate academic advisor in the Academic Advising Office. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Illinois at Springfield, where she also first began working in higher education as a student worker and peer advisor in the advising center. She joined the Benedictine University community in 2010 and has enjoyed working with the students, staff, and faculty. In her spare time, Emily enjoys spending time gardening, crafting, visiting with friends and family, and being outdoors with her husband and dog.
Lisa serves as an undergraduate academic advisor in the Academic Advising Office. She earned a Master's degree in Adult and Secondary Education from the University of Missouri St. Louis and a Bachelor degree in Community Health Education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Lisa started as an Academic Advisor for Benedictine University in 2014. In her spare time she enjoys restoring vintage treasures, gardening, and watching college basketball. Lisa has three children, Marc, Eric and Katie Hempen, and a 3 year old dog named Rondo.
Phil serves as the Learning Specialist in the Resource Center. He earned a Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Loyola University Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Drake University. Phil also teaches several math courses for Benedictine as an adjunct instructor, including statistics and intermediate algebra. He has been a member of the Benedictine family since the fall of 2012. When he's not on campus, Phil enjoys coaching basketball, writing music, and traveling up to Wisconsin to see his friends and family.
Sonja has been the Coordinator of Special Services for students needing accommodations since joining the University in 2011. Throughout her career she has worked and advocated for individuals with disabilities and their families. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a BSED in Communication Disorders. Sonja enjoys golfing with her husband and family, and is an avid bridge player and gardener.
Adonis serves as the Career Development Coordinator for Benedictine University at Springfield and joined the University in 2008. He completed the Master of Business Administration program at Benedictine University at Springfield in 2012 and received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from MacMurray College. In his free time Adonis can be found playing or watching basketball, and spending time with family and friends.
Fr. Steven Janoski
Fr. Steve is currently in his sixth year as the Director of Campus Ministry at Benedictine, where he also serves as an adjunct professor of Theology and Interdisciplinary Seminar. He holds advanced degrees from the University of St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein, IL and Aquinas Institute of Theology in St. Louis. Ordained as a Roman Catholic priest in 1988, he has served in many parishes and other ministries including currently serving as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish just to the south of the Benedictine campus, and Chaplain for the Catholic Student Organization at the University of Illinois Springfield.
Quentin became a member of the Benedictine community in June of 2013 and currently serves as the Resident Manager. He earned his Masters of Arts in Organizational Management in 2012 from Ashford University in Clinton, IA and his Bachelor of Arts in Social Science in 2011. Quentin enjoys working with students and empowering them to reach deep within themselves and discover their passion and purpose in life. Outside of student affairs, Quentin loves composing original music, playing the piano, singing and creating memories with family and friends.
