Bachelor's and Master’s students

Online: Awards and Hooding Ceremony Reservation
The Awards and Hooding Ceremony has a unique identity and function: its purpose is to bring together students, faculty and staff for the last time as a University community. It is held in Angela Hall at 7:00 p.m.
A special feature of the Ceremony is the "hooding ceremony" during which the faculty/staff invest the graduates with the bachelor's or master’s hood. Each student chooses the faculty/staff member who has played an important role in his/her experience at Benedictine. Graduates are called forward in an arranged sequence for hooding.
You are asked to report to Angela Hall by 6:45 p.m. dressed in academic attire (wearing gown, with gowns zipped up the front) carrying the hood over your left arm.
To participate in the Hooding Ceremony, you must complete the response card which is on the Commencement website under "Graduation Steps." Responses are due no later than March 23rd. Your response should also indicate which faculty/staff member you have chosen to confer the hood upon you. Please contact the faculty/staff member personally. Without a selected staff/faculty member, we cannot guarantee who will present your hood.
If you have any questions regarding the Awards and Hooding Ceremony, please contact Susan Doddek at (217) 525-1420, ext. 3228 or via e-mail at sdoddek@ben.edu.
