International

Benedictine University has greatly expanded its efforts to internationalize the campus community over the past few years and includes this focus in its current mission statement. The University staunchly supports the International Programs Office's efforts to increase global interdependence and cultural empathy by providing exemplary cross-cultural opportunities.

Studying abroad better prepares students for the twenty-first century by enabling them to:

  • transform knowledge into experience
  • encounter an international community
  • attain increased cultural sensitivity
  • cultivate personal maturity
  • become responsible world citizens
  • develop cross-cultural problem-solving skills
  • improve classroom performance
  • raise academic achievement levels
  • complete courses not available on campus
Students contend that their study abroad experience is a highlight of their college life from which they enjoy enduring memories. With careful planning and foresight, study abroad is an affordable, rigorous academic component of higher education which promotes graduation rather than delays it
