Benedictine University senior Maggie Kane (Mattoon, Ill./Mattoon H.S.) has been named as the Northern Athletics Conference "Student-Athlete of the Week" for women's tennis for the period of September 22-28, 2008. Kane, playing in her first-ever season of college tennis, had an outstanding week for the Eagles by going undefeated in No. 1 singles play. She was 4-0 overall and 3-0 within the NAC, among which was an epic battle with Wisconsin Lutheran College's Rachel Wendt. In that match, Kane was down one set and trailing 1-4 in the second before coming back to win. Kane also posted a win over the No. 1 singles player from perennial power Lake Forest College. Kane and No. 1 doubles partner Lisa Carillo-Gunning, were 3-1 on the week, as well. For more Athletics News, visit the Athletics Web site.
