It took a minor miracle - along with two overtime periods - but the Benedictine University men's basketball team escaped Rockford College with a 64-57 win. Benedictine improved to 10-8 overall and 7-3 in the Northern Athletics Conference. All five starter for Benedictine made one three point basket, but none was larger than that by Jacob Carwell. The 6'7" freshman got the ball in his hand with his team down by three points in regulation and drained the trey as the clock expired to send the game into the first OT segment. After the two teams remained deadlocked after one overtime, 55-55, BU took control in the second segment. The Eagles reeled off nine points and held Rockford to just one field goal in the five minute period on its way to the 64-57 final score. Carwell finished with 22 points and nine rebounds - both game-high totals - in pacing Benedictine. Travis Wilson had an all-around nice effort of 15 points, six rebounds, four steals and two assists. Tim Swanson's 13 points rounded out the double-digit scorers for BU.
