The Benedictine University Library is launching a Patron Driven Acquisitions initiative whereby the users help to build the library’s collection. This initiative will focus on three areas of the library’s collection: science, social science, and literature. These areas have been selected due to the high number of interlibrary loan requests received.
How does it work? Records for ebooks not owned by the Benedictine University Library and meeting specific criteria have been loaded in the library’s catalog. When a user is searching in the library catalog and comes across a record with a call number of “Discover ebrary”, all that needs to be done is click on the link to the ebook. Access is immediate. There is no need to wait for the book to come from another library.
The ebook must be accessed three times before it is purchased by the library. The first two uses are considered loans, so you do not need to worry if you accidentally click on the link. If you have any questions, please contact Luann DeGreve, Associate University Librarian.
