For assistance using ILLiad see the ILLiad Research Guide.
Materials may be borrowed from several institutions with which Benedictine University has agreements. I-Share and LIBRAS libraries allow Benedictine University patrons to check out items in person. Some area public libraries also provide privileges to Benedictine University patrons. Please contact the Reference Desk at firstname.lastname@example.org or (630) 829-6057, or the Interlibrary Loan department at email@example.com or (630) 829-6056, for assistance and details. Items may also be ordered and sent to the Benedictine Library by other libraries. For more information, see "How do I request materials through Interlibrary Loan?" below.
Requests are taken from approved borrowers*
*Approved borrowers include current students, Benedictine faculty and staff, Monks of St. Procopius Abbey and Sisters of Sacred Heart Convent whose library accounts are not suspended for lost items or library fees.
In general, it takes three to seven days for items to arrive at the Benedictine Library, regardless of item format. Some items may take longer if the request is not immediately filled.
You can check the status of book requests in VuFind and article requests in ILLiad at any time. If you have not heard about the status of your request after 10 business days you may contact the Interlibrary Loan department at firstname.lastname@example.org or (630) 829-6056 to inquire about the status.
Books: the Interlibrary Loan department will email or call you when an item arrives at the library. Items can be picked up at the Circulation Desk in the Lower Level of the library. Books not picked up within two weeks will be returned to the lending library.
Articles: all articles will be delivered to patrons electronically via ILLiad. Patrons will receive an e-mail informing them that an article is available. Articles will be accessible online until they have been viewed five times or two weeks have passed, whichever comes first. You may check the status of any of your requests by logging in to ILLiad.
