Students are the lifeblood of any university. Through the collaborative efforts of our various offices, we help students make informed choices about continuing their education. We provide a welcoming atmosphere that reflects the best of the Benedictine values of hospitality and a concern for the development of each individual.
Benedictine University has a student-to-teacher ratio of 18:1, which means that you will receive personal attention and develop close relationships with your teachers. You will no be just another number. More than 80 percent of full-time faculty have the highest degrees in their field. You will learn from experts, not teaching assistants.
The Staff
Benedictine has a friendly and supportive staff who will provide you with advice, assistance and academic support services. The Student Success Center provides tutoring for math, history, science and writing.
Internship Opportunities
Students have access to many and varied internship and research opportunities. These experiences provide students with the knowledge and skills they will need when they enter the workforce.
Home away from Home
Benedictine’s closely-nestled campus and small student body create a home-like community. The 108-acre campus features 20 buildings, three of which house classrooms. Benedictine’s undergraduate enrollment for the Fall 2011 term was 3,825 students.
Transfer Transition
Benedictine makes transferring easy. We have transfer students from two- and four-year colleges from throughout the country. Our counselors are familiar with course offerings from other schools and are ready to assist you. If you are thinking about Benedictine, feel free to schedule an appointment with one of our Transfer Counselors and they can help you choose classes that transfer to the major of your choice.
Flexible Admission
We offer a rolling admission policy, which means you can become an admitted, registered student prior to the start of our Fall, Spring and Summer terms.
Safe
StateUniversity.com ranks Benedictine University as the 34th safest campus in the United States - and the safest four-year school in Illinois - based on a scale that accounts for the severity and frequency of on-campus crime. Benedictine has a 24-hour, seven-days-per-week campus police department which functions not to “police” our students, but to facilitate a safe environment for learning, growing and socializing.
Location
Benedictine University is 25 miles west of Chicago and is easily accessible from the city and suburbs via the interstate highway system. Metra’s Burlington Northern train stops in Lisle, and O’Hare International Airport is only 30 minutes away. In addition to the many social and cultural offerings of the Chicago metropolitan area, the University enjoys proximity to Argonne National Laboratory, Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory, the Morton Arboretum, a ski hill, riding stable and several golf courses. The University’s location in the high-tech East-West Tollway corridor gives students opportunities for internships and employment.
