Welcome to the homepage of Benedictine University's Department of Music!
Offering musical opportunities for students of all majors, the Department of Music at Benedictine is committed to providing a high-quality educational experience in music education, performance, and general music. Our strength in chamber music and small ensembles provides students a base for artistic and intellectual growth, as do the choral and instrumental ensembles that are available as part of our programs. Students also benefit from small class sizes, enabling them to receive individual attention from our faculty members.
The Bachelor of Arts in Music trains students to perform or pursue graduate studies in music scholarship, performance, and composition. The Department's new degree program in Music Education offers students a comprehensive program of study that will fulfill all the requirements needed for certification as a K-12 music educator in Illinois.
We are proud of our programs, students, and faculty. We encourage you to explore our website to learn more the Department of Music's undergraduate programs, faculty, concerts, and special events. If you are interested in pursuing an education in music, or simply taking part in the various ensembles available at Benedictine University, please do not hesitate to contact us for more information.
