Need a scholarship for the 2012-13 academic year?

The application process is available online. You can create an account at  http://ben.edu/current_students/scholarships.cfm. You must open the website via an Internet Explorer browser window. To access from off-campus, first log into BenU Connect at webvpn.ben.edu.

You will need to provide basic student information in order to see a recommended list of scholarships and awards to which you can apply. You can even request reference letters through the online system and upload important documents.

Scholarship Opportunities - BSN Program

  • The Illinois Hispanic Nurses Association (IHNA)
    will be offering (2) nursing scholarships which will be distributed in the 2012-2013 academic school year.   • Anne Zimmerman Fellowship
    Fellowships are awarded biennially.  Interested members may request an application beginning March 1, 2011.  The chosen Fellow will be be provided a honorarium/stipend to help fund the proposed fellowship project.  Application Deadline: June 1, 2011.

  • The Division of Nursing, Health Resources and Services Administration, has announced two funding opportunities for Fiscal Year 2011. Information from the Division regarding the Nursing Workforce Diversity (NWD) Program (announcement number HRSA-11-040) and the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention (NEPQR) Program (announcement number HRSA-11-041) is provided below:

    Grants are awarded to eligible applicants to increase nursing education opportunities for individuals who are from disadvantaged backgrounds, including racial and ethnic minorities underrepresented among registered nurses, through projects that incorporate retention, pre-entry preparation, and student scholarships and/or stipends.     Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention Program
    Grants are awarded to eligible institutions for projects to strengthen and enhance the capacity for nurse education, practice and retention to address the nursing shortage. Applicants must select and focus on one of the nine purposes in the grant application.

  • The Illinois Nursing Education Scholarship Program
    The Illinois Nursing Educatin Scholarship Program provides 140 nursing students with enough money to pay tuition and other expenses in nursing programs across the state. The scholarships are funded through license fees paid to the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) by the state's 200,000 licensed nurses and awarded by the Illinois Department of Public Health IDPH. Scholarship criteria, information and online and printable applications can be found at http://www.idph.state.il.us/about/rural_health/rural_scholarship.htm. The application cycle runs from March 1 through May 31 of each year.

  • HB 382 (Brosnahan / Maloney) - Amends the Nursing Education Scholarship Law and the Nurse Practice Act.
    HB 382 requires the Department of Public Health to provide nurse educator scholarships among the scholarships offered for nursing, to be awarded for a period of up to 3 years. [NOTE: The program would be substantively similar to the Nurse Educator Scholarship Program administered by ISAC, but funded by a different source. The ISAC program receives General Revenue Funds, whereas the program under this bill would be funded by professional fees paid by nurses into the Nursing Dedicated and Professional Fund .] The bill also requires the Department of Public Health to maintain a database of all available nurse educator positions in this State. Finally, it provides that for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009 and for each fiscal year thereafter, $2,000,000 (instead of $1,200,000) of the moneys deposited in the Nursing Dedicated and Professional Fund each year shall be set aside and appropriated for nursing scholarships. The bill's provisions would take effect immediately. Passed House 116-0-0 Passed Senate 58-0-0

  • CampusRN Scholarship Program
    CampusRN has launched a new scholarship program in conjunction with the creation of the CampusRN state edition network. CampusRN will award six $2500 scholarships to a needy and deserving nursing student in each region.   • Health Careers Foundation
    Offers scholarships/loan programs that run January 1 - April 1 of each year.  For additional information, see their website at: www.hcfinfo.org/services.html

  • Gottlieb Memorial Hospital Auxiliary scholarship fund
    This scholarship provides financial awards to qualified students to assist with school expenses. This scholarship award is not based on financial need. Please click here for additional information. To be considered for the scholarship, applications must submit all paperwork no later than July 1st of application year.

  • Benedictine University's Geri Curley Endowed Scholarship in Nursing
    Nursing Scholarship is for a full-time student with financial need pursuing a degree in nursing. Scholarship to be used for junior or senior undergraduate years or graduate classes. GPA 3.0/4.0

  • Benedictine University's Evelyn R. Simmers Nursing Scholarship

    Applications are now being accepted for the Evelyn R. Simmers Scholarship. The deadline for submission of all required materials is February 28, 2011. This scholarship was established to assist students pursuing either a bachelor's or master's degree in Nursing and who have GPA of 3.2 and 3.5 respectively. All BSN and MSN students who are enrolled in yearlong cohort or online programs are eligible. Preference will be given to student/s that plan continuation from BSN to MSN at Benedictine University.  Only applications with all required documents will be considered for scholarship funding.     AfterCollege, the leading employment website for nursing/allied health care students and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) have partnered to offer this new scholarship program for students pursuing professional nursing education programs.

    Nursing Education Loan Repayment
    NELRP is a competitive program that repays 60 percent of the qualifying nursing educational loan balance of Registered Nurses (RNs) selected for funding in exchange for 2 years of service at a critical shortage facility. Participants may be eligible to work a third year and receive an additional 25 percent of the qualifying nursing educational loan balance.
